Victorian Premium Solar Energy Buy Back Plan 

On 1 November 2009, the Victorian Government introduced a premium feed-in tariff of 60 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) for Victorians with solar photovoltaic (PV) systems of up to five kilowatts (kW) in size, for excess electricity fed back into the electricity grid. This premium feed-in tariff helps to make solar panels more economical for Victorian households, and rewards customers for returning their unused power to Victoria’s grid. 

This Victorian Premium Solar Energy Buy Back Plan offers to pay you for the electricity you feed back into the Victorian grid, over and above what you use at home. Whenever your home electricity demands are less than what your solar panel is producing, you will be feeding electricity into the grid. This is called ‘net’ metering. Any electricity generated by your solar panel and used in your home will be free of charge. 

To be eligible for the Victorian Premium Solar Energy Buy Back Plan, you must: 

·         have a solar PV system no greater than five kW in size; 

·         claim only solar PV systems installed at your principal place of residence; and 

·         claim only one solar PV system per site.

Australian Power & Gas customers who meet the above criteria can sign up to the Victorian Premium Solar Energy Buy Back Plan by downloading and completing the Premium Solar Application Form at the top right hand side of the page and returning it to us with the required information. Victorian Standard Renewable Energy Buy Back Plan 

Alternatively, Victorian customers can also sign up to our Standard Renewable Energy Buy Back Plan. This plan offers to pay you for the electricity you feed back into the electricity grid, at the same great rates as you pay to purchase electricity under your current Australian Power & Gas plan. The Victorian Government refers to this plan as the standard feed-in tariff, and it’s available for electricity generated from any renewable resource, such as the sun or wind. To apply for this plan, download the Standard Renewable Application Form and terms and conditions. These documents can be found at the top right hand side of this page.

Queensland Solar Bonus Scheme.

The Queensland Government offers Queensland households with a solar photovoltaic (PV) system, who feed their excess electricity back into the Queensland grid, an agreed Solar Bonus rate of 44 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh). Australian Power & Gas customers in Queensland can take advantage of this offer by signing up to the Queensland Solar Bonus Scheme. This plan offers to pay you for the electricity you feed back into the Queensland grid, over and above what you use at home. Whenever your home electricity demands are less than what your solar panel is producing, you will be feeding electricity into the grid. This is called ‘net’ metering. The New South Wales Government offers households with a solar photovoltaic (PV) system, who feed their excess electricity back into the network grid, an agreed Solar Bonus rate of 60 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh). Australian Power & Gas customers in New South Wales can take advantage of this offer by contacting your local distributor. This plan offers to pay you for all the electricity generated by your PV system that is fed back into the network grid. This is called ‘gross’ metering.
